What Information is Provided
Work|Life Links consultants provide information and support on a number of issues to assist employees to juggle their work and personal life responsibilities.
These include:
* The availability and cost details of lifestyle courses such as adult education programs and health programs such as yoga classes, gyms, stress management and nutrition experts.
* Relocation information such as details of removalists, local services, schools, sporting associations, and real estate agents.
* Pet care needs such as transportation, kennels, grooming, exercising and training.
* The availability and cost of dependent care services such as child care centres, vacation care, hostels, home care services, and nursing homes.
* Information relating to pregnancy and baby advice, child care, government assistance available to working parents and benefits for those receiving aged pensions.
* Work|Life Links can also provide checklists to assist in evaluating the suitability of services, such as nursing homes and child care.
Are you Planning A Family?
Waiting lists for child care can be substantial, with demand high and supply relatively low. We recommend parents contact Work|Life Links as soon as they know they are pregnant.
Few, if any, children's services can guarantee to hold a place for a parent in advance, and they often find it difficult to predict if/when a position will become available. Many parents go on multiple waiting lists to maximise their chances of securing care. This creates a distorted picture of potential demand for places. Children's services do not usually know what other lists parents may have gone on. This means that there is a risk you may miss out on a place if you limit yourself to too few centres, or leave it too late to get onto the waitlist.
